With more than 40 years experience as a television and film actor, producer and director John Jarratt has written an autobiography called The Bastard From The Bush.
After growing up in Wongawilli, New South Wales, and in the Snowy Mountains, he spent time in Townsville, Aramac and on Magnetic Island.
John is one of Australia’s best loved actors. He launched his career after a stint at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
He has an extensive acting resume. Some of his best known roles include Albert in Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock; Ned Kelly in the mini-series The Last Outlaw and the famous villain Mick Taylor in the film series Wolf Creek.
In his sixth decade, John Jarratt has lived a large life, filled with passion and pain. He has had three marriages, and is the proud father of six children.
