Rock of Ages

Ballarat’s Lyric Theatre  are presenting the Victorian premiere of the musical Rock of Ages at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 3 to 13 March.

Rock of Ages story begins in Hollywood at the end of the 1980’s at the legendary Bourbon Room. Aspiring rock star Drew wants to be the next big thing and falls in love with Sherrie, a small town girl who’s fresh off the bus from Kansas who dreams of becoming an actress.

When German property developers Hertz and his son Franz wants to see the redevelopment of the Sunset Strip that will see the demolish of the Bourbon Room much to disapproval of city planner Regina. The Vegas Club, the nearby strip joint could be in danger if the Germans get their way to turn the area into a shopping mall.

The musical features the classic songs from I Want To Know What Loves Is, High Enough, The Final Countdown, We Build This City, Every Rose Has It’s Thorn, More Than Words and Don’t Stop Believin.

Directed by Stephen O’Neill, the cast included Keith McNamara (Lonny), Joshua McGuane (Drew), Erin Shay (Sherrie) , Stephen Armati (Dennis), David Harford (Stacee Jaxx), Susan Jackson (Justice), Geordie Worland (Hertz), Abgail Grace (Regina), Reuben Morgan (Franz) and Matt Mercer (Mayor).

The band comprises of local musicians Adam Cameron, Dave Clark, Jason Hubble, Lyndon Kriss and Shane Pearson. They enjoyed their time as band and have decided to perform Velvet Llama.
