Holidays On The River Yarra

Australia has a strong film history. It has been 25 years since the release of Holidays on the River Yarra Leo Berkeley‘s first feature film. Many people may not have of this release but it has its own a unique following.

Eddie (Craig Adams) and Mick (Luke Elliot) are teenage friends living in Melbourne. They do occasional jobs but lead boring lives. They hear about an expedition to sail away and fight in Africa? Will Eddie and Mick get involved?

Other cast members of Holidays on the River Yarra include Alex Menglet (Big Mac), Tahir Cambis (Stewie), Claudia Karvan (Elsa), Ian Scott (Frank), Sheryl Munks (Valerie) and Angela McKenna (Mother).

Holidays on the River Yarra was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in 1991.

Some of the other festivals’ screening included the Melbourne International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival.
