Matilda

Royal Shakespeare Company‘s production of Matilda the Musical will be staged at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from 13 March to 11 November, 2016.

Based on the novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl.  It’s a story of a extraordinary girl who has a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, who takes a stand and changes her destiny.

Dusty Bursill (11), Tiana Mirra (11), Alannah Parfett (10) and Ingrid Torelli will share the title role of Matilda.

The original Australian adult cast will transfer to Melbourne.  Principal casts include Marika Aubrey, Daniel Frederiksen, Elise McCann and James Millar.  They will be joined by Stephen Anderson, Reece Budin, Rachel Cole, Andrew Cook, Danielle Cook, Eli Cooper, Cristina D’Agostino, Glenn Hill, Travis Khan, Nadia Komazec, Zoe Komazec, Leah Lim, Mitchell Mahony, Cle Morgan, Daniel Raso and Clay Robert.

Crunchem Primary School children’s roles of Bruce, Lavender, Amanda, Nigel, Eric and the other pupils will be played in rotation by Charli Bowers, Freya Cantwell, Keely Corcoran, Jack Coyne, Jeremiah Duncan, Shyla Farrugia, Tahila Gerosa, Cooper Guinea, Jazi Hall, Kushinka Jayewardene, Andre Karabajakian, Kathleen Lawlor, Campbell Maccorquodale, Theirry Mendoza, Chloe Nyo, Chihana Perera, Adam Punsalang, Kyle Reynolds, Orlanda Schwerdt, Hudson Sharp, Daniel Stow, Alistair Touliatos, Caleb Waterworth, Tahila Williams and Mackensie Young.

Matilda the Musical was produced from a book by Tony Award playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australia’s own Tim Minchin.  It’s  directed by award-winning director Matthew Warchus. In Australia it’s produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Louise Withers, Michael Coppel and Michael Watt.  Executive producers are Andre Ptaszynski and Denise Wood.
