Exclusive to Melbourne a must theatrical event, Follies in Concert is going to be staged for three performances only at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 24 to 25 June.
Follies is set at the soon-to-be-demolished Weismann Theatre, the home of the Weismann Follies. Before demolishing the building to make way for a parking lot, the former stars gather to relive their past experiences. friendships and they may lie about themselves.
The all-star cast include David Hobson, Lisa McCune, Phillip Quast, Patti and Bert Newton AM (Member of the Order of Australia), Nancye Hayes AM who’s making her fifth appearance in a Follies performance, Robert Grubb, Debra Byrne, David Rogers Smith, Queenie van de Zandt, Anne Wood, Cheryl Barker, Jenni Little, Rowan Witt, Madeleine Featherby, Lachlan Graham, Natali Gamsu, Sophie Wright and Katie Kermond. Ensemble members include Daniel Assetta, Katrina Bickerton, Matt Holly, Zoe Coppinger, Nicholas Kyriacou, Ashleigh Marie Hauschild, Caleb Vines, Imogen Moore and Monica Swayne.
Featuring the songs Beautiful Girls, Broadway Baby, In Buddy’s Eyes, I’m Still Here, Losing My Mind, Waiting for the Girls Upstairs and You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow, Could I Leave You, One More Kiss and Live, Laugh, Love.
Presented by Storeyboard Entertainment and will be directed by Tyran Park. This presentation will feature 23 musicians playing the full and original Broadway orchestrations. Music and lyrics are written by Stephen Sonheim with the book by James Goldman.
