While growing up I remember reading the Peanuts comic strip by cartoonist Charles M. Shulz in the local newspaper. The Peanuts characters found their way to the live stage in the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This musical comedy will be staged at the Alex Theatre in St Kilda from 21 June to 2 July, 2016.
The Peanuts cartoon strip ran from 2 October, 1950 to 13 February, 2000. During this period Schulz drew nearly 18,000 strips. It appeared in 2,600 papers in 75 countries and in 21 languages. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown was written in 1967 by Clark Gesner.
Presented by Alex Theatre founder Aleksander Vass and Vass Productions. It will be directed by Gary Abrahams. Cameron MacDonald is Charlie Brown, Luigi Lucente stars as Snoopy, Courtney Glass will perform the role of Lucy, Schroeder will be performed by Joshua Robson, Adam Porter is Linus while Sarah Morrison stars as Charlie’s sister Sally.
Join the Peanuts gang as they navigate their way through a day full of book reports, baseball games, kite flying, unrequited love, friendship, misunderstandings and a little philosophy.
