As I enjoy attending various musicals and on occasions have attended several of StageArt’s productions who produced three musicals per year. For the first musical for 2018, they’re presenting the Victorian professional premiere of Falsettos. It will be staged at Chapel off Chapel from 1 to 11 February, 2018.
Set in the late 1970s, Falsettos revolves around the life of a charming, intelligent, neurotic gay man named Marvin, his ex-wife Trina, his gay lover Whizzer Brown, Jason his 13-year-old son , their psychiatrist Mendel and the lesbians neighbors Cordelia and Dr. Charlotte.
Tragedy strikes when Marvin’s lover is diagnosed with AIDS, all participants must put their differences aside and unite.
Written by William Finn and James Lapine, with Finn also composing the score. Falsettos will star Nick Simpson-Deeks, Sarah Shahinian, Don Winsor, Francesca Arena, Ben Jason-Easton and Riley Flood, Bianca Bruce and Lachie Graham and will be directed by Tyran Parke.
