Spring Awakening

As I enjoy attending various musicals and on occasions have attended several of StageArt’s productions who produced three musicals per year.  For the second musical for 2017, they are presenting the Victorian professional premiere of Spring Awakening. It will be staged at Chapel off Chapel from 19 May to 10 June, 2017.

Spring Awakening is set in late-19th-century Germany, telling the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of teenage sexuality when sexual education is non-existent.

Based on a original play by Frank Wedekind.  Book and lyrics are by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik.

It contains nudity and strong sex scenes.  Parental guidance is recommended for people under 15 years.

Starring Ashley Roussety, Jessie-Lou Yates, Brent Trotter, Hannah McInerney, Henry Brett, Luisa Scrofani, Alex Thompson, Jordan Mahar, Nathan Fernandez, Grace Browne, Alice Batt, Olivia Solomons, Barry Mitchell, Adam Canny and Gabriella Barbagallo.

Titanic

We’ve all heard the story of the Titanic which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.

StageArt are presenting the Australian premiere of London Chamber Revival’s production of Titanic the Musical at Chapel off Chapel from 7 to 24 July, 2016.

Based on actual characters, Titanic the Musical tells the stories of the people on board and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. It’s one of the most tragic events of the 20th Century. 1517 men, women and children lost their lives.

Unaware of their fate, third class immigrants dream of a better life in America, the second class aspire to attain a more grand lifestyle of the rich and famous, while the millionaire aristocrats of the first class believe their wealth and power will last forever.

The principal cast includes Don Winsor, Greta Sheriff, Paul Batey, David Irvine, Joel Granger,  Jonathan Sebastian, Casey Withoos, Matthew Hyde, Harley Morrison, Christopher Southall, James Brown, Alex Thompson, Timothy Lancaster, Amanda Stevenson, Samuel Bennett, Rosabelle Elliot, Molly Fisher and Matilda Moran. Each actor will portray three different roles – a first class, second class and third class passenger.  Directed by James Cutler and is accompanied by a live six-piece chamber ensemble.
